When it comes to identifying Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs), their vehicle registration number typically begins with the Y prefix, similar to LGVs. However, it is important to note that the rules for entering Malaysia are stringent, and G and Y plate vehicles are only permitted entry with registered Malaysian businesses, valid insurance coverage, and approved inspections by Malaysian authorities.

As with HGVs, VHGVs require a valid Vehicle Parking Certificate (VPC) to park in designated spaces, which are often located away from residential areas. Additionally, if the vehicle exceeds a height of 4.5 metres, you may need to obtain an oversized vehicle movement (OVM) permit and police escort, depending on the width of the vehicle and the roads it will travel on.
